Rounds 9 & 10 of the 2026 Lloyds Bank BMX National Series took place during last weekend in Derby.

We arrived on Friday at lunchtime so that we could set up our ACE motorhome in the campsite and our Surf & Turf tent in the team area. Then at 17,00 it was the first practice session of the weekend. The track at Derby is one of Scott’s favourites, so he was keen to utilise his practice session to get the maximum from the track. He has raced here since the 1980’s!

In the BMX National Series it is your top 6 results that count towards the overall title. With 5 wins already in 2026, his focus was very much on a great weekend to try and wrap the overall title up with a perfect score of 6 wins.

Saturday: Round 9

In BMX riders have 3 qualifying races – called motos which qualify riders through to the knockout stages of quarter finals, semi finals and then the final.

Scott’s moto’s were straight forward, finishing 2nd, 1st and 1st. His second place came after Scott was leading to the final corner. He was pushing way too wide and leaving the inside too open, leading to an overtake.

Qualifying through the next rounds and to the final as the first seed, the team were more than happy with that. The plan is always to make the final. He had done that with ease.

With first pick, Scott was able to chose gate 3. This gave him a clear path to the first turn. Making an ok start, Scott was in the thick of it on the first straight but had to yield into turn one, sliding into 2nd. On the second straight he drew level for the lead but couldn’t make the pass stick. Into the final straight he again pulled close, but had to settle for 2nd at the finish. An incredible race and the crowd were showing their appreciation.

“I am really happy with today. I gave it my all and today it wasn’t quite enough to take the win. I made a mistake and wasn’t the best rider today. Hats off to John (Lillingstone). He executed that first turn perfectly and deserved the win. I’ll be back tomorrow.

Sunday: Round 10

So, onto Sunday and it’s safe to say Scott was fired up and ready to make up for the mistake on Saturday.

His motos went well, taking a couple of wins and a second. He was struggling with the start. Normally his strong point, but it was just marginally out all day.

In the final, Scott went straight for gate 3 again. On this track the preferred choice. After the riders names were announced, the crowd went silent. The beeps fired into life and Scott made his fastest gate of the whole weekend. But it still wasn’t enough. Again slotting into 2nd in turn 1 the race was a carbon copy of day 1. Scott would draw level but just couldn’t make the pass stick. It was another great final but it was second again for us this weekend.

With this result, Scott became the 2026 Lloyds Bank BMX National Series Champion. Scott and the team were ecstatic. If our calculations are correct this is Scott’s 20th British BMX title in his career. This also makes him one of the winningest riders the sport has ever seen.

Many thanks to all our team partners for your support. We could not have won this title without you.

Now, it’s back to Mountain Biking and our focus switches back to 4X ProTour World Series. Scott is currently second overall in the series and his focus is on winning that series overall too.

Scott also has Dual Slalom and 4X National Championships in Malvern later this month. A big month with big pressure events. Those who know Scott know this is where he does his best work.

Stay tuned.
