Lloyds Bank BMX National Series Rounds 1 & 2: Manchester
Race Report: 2026 British BMX Series – Round 1 & 2, Manchester
The 2026 BMX race season got underway during the weekend at the National Indoor BMX Arena in Manchester. The facility at British Cycling headquarters is simply incredible. A £24 million building which holds one of the world’s few indoor BMX tracks and seating for 2,000 spectators. It is brilliant and Scott’s favourite BMX track. It also happens to be the venue where Scott spends a lot of his time training, so coming into this race he was confident about starting his season strong.
Saturday Round 1:
The racing started on Saturday with round 1. After signing on and registering his transponder for racing, Scott took to the track for his practice session. Just a couple of laps were needed to get up to speed and he was ready to race.
Scott got off to the best start possible. A perfect gate a super fast lap gave him a win to start his season off. He followed this up with another 2 wins to complete a perfect set of motos and a path to the final with a perfect score.
He chose his preferred gate 1 for the final. The riders were announced and then silence. The gate dropped and the crowd exploded. Scott made a perfect start and took the holeshot into turn 1. Pulling away on every straight it was a phenomenal lap to take the win and the first national win for 2026.
Scott was super happy:
“That was an awesome race. I gave 100% and I’m stoked to take the win. A perfect start and I’ll be looking for the same tomorrow. After breaking my back in 2025, this is my first national race in 11 months, so to return and take the win is extra special.”
It was then time for food in the ACE motorhome and a relaxing night to regroup ahead of round 2 on Sunday.
Sunday Round 2:
Sunday morning arrived and we were ready to go again. Riders were allowed to do a couple of laps of practice ahead of racing. Scott made it count with a solid lap that looked as strong as his Saturday laps.
Onto racing and Scott was looking fast. His first heat was a great lap to get the day started with a win. In heat 2 it was more of the same with another win. In the 3rd moto he was able to hustle after entering the first turn in second. He carried amazing speed on the second straight and moved into the lead. From there he checked out and took the win again.
In the final he had 1st pick of the gate and went for gate 1. Again the crowd went quiet and the gate fired into life. The gate dropped and Scott was in a drag race to turn 1. He pushed hard and grabbed the hole shot. From turn 1 he pushed as hard as possible and was able to eeeek out a good lead by the finish.
Commenting after the race, Scott said: “I am stoked to take the win again today. That was a tough final but I am super happy to win again and leave here with the overall points lead. I’m looking forward to Glasgow in Scotland in 3 weeks.”
So a perfect start to 2026. Unbeaten over the weekend and a perfect score.
