Race Report: 2025 British BMX Series – Round 3 & 4, Cumbernauld

Firstly, apologies for the lateness of this race report. To say it has been a tough 2 weeks, is an understatement.
2 weeks ago, we had rounds 3 and 4 of the 2025 Lloyds Bank BMX National Series at Cumbernauld in Scotland. An amazing track where we have had plenty of success at over the last few years, so we were excited to get up there and race again.
We arrived on Friday and initially set up our Surf & Turf tent for our base for the weekend. Later on we had the first practice session. Scott was up to speed quickly and by his 4th lap looked good at race pace already.

Friday night it was back to our Adria motorhome for some great food and a relax ahead of round 3 on Saturday.

Saturday morning and the sun was shining. There was a strong wind that was gusting, but the show goes on! Scott looked good in his practice session on Saturday morning. He was hitting his marks and looked up to speed.

Scott lined up for his first moto. The draw was tough and his first moto looked like a final. Scott made a perfect start and led the race from the start. Stretching his lead on straights 2 and 3 Scott was looking extremely comfortable. Rounding the final corner, he manually the first double…. But. A strong gust of wind caught his front wheel causing him to swerve to the left. He landed on his head and came to an immediate stop. He was knocked out and unconscious on the floor. Unfortunately the rider in second had no where to go and and hit Scott square in his back. This obviously knocked the wind out of him. So, he was on the floor unconscious and winded. It was a terrible sight and one that had a lot of people extremely worried.

Scott regained consciousness about 2 minutes later and he had obviously also got his breathing back under control, although he can’t remember anything about this!
He was taken to the medical centre on site with multiple suspected injuries including severe pain in his back. It was immediately deemed necessary for Scott to travel to hospital, so an ambulance ride to Glasgow A&E department straight away where he would be admitted.
The speed for his treatment was incredible. He was admitted and prayed on arrival. Then he needed a scan on his back to check on the extent of his injuries.

The results came back later that day. Scott had a broken T8 vertebrae and some nerve damage on his left arm in his shoulder and elbow.
So that was the end of this weekend. As many of you will know, an injury doesn’t ever stand in Scott’s way. He will be using every tool he has to ensure he is back on the bike in record time. We will update you all very soon with an expected return date but we are certainly talking about a few weeks. Not months as some doctors have suggested.
Thank you to all our sponsors for your support. We couldn’t do this without you.
